Love What You Do

I recently saw an HBO special on Lenny Dykstra, a former baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies - Great story!!

This is a guy who learned a hard lesson and really took control of his life.  When Lenny retired from baseball in the 90's, he scheduled a meeting with his financial advisor and was dealt a devastating blow.  He discovered that although he had made millions during his baseball career, all that was left was 400K.  He had not done anything illegal - just chose a bad investment broker who made poor investments with his money while he was busy playing baseball.

He walked out of that office knowing that he had made an enormous mistake by being complacent.  He vowed to himself that he would never let anything like that happen again.  He began to study everything he could get his hands on about the stock market and investing and he applied what he learned.  He had found a new passion and quickly built a multi-million dollar empire.

We all like to hear these stories because they show us that we all have the ability to accomplish ANYTHING we set our minds to - they remind us that just because we are 'down,' we don't have to be 'out.'  But why is that some people talk about what they want to accomplish while others actually do it?

Lenny's story is a perfect example!  First he educated himself - he gained knowledge.  Much more importantly he then APPLIED the knowledge and took action!  Finally, he was passionate about what he was doing.  He was enjoying himself.

Have you ever asked yourself if you LOVE what you do?  Do you even know what you are passionate about?  How do you enjoy spending your time?  It might be speaking, writing, art, driving, traveling, selling, making money, investing, managing people, working with numbers, recognition, animals, deep sea diving...you name it!!!

I challenge you to dig deep within yourself and find your passion.  Once you do, get educated about whatever it is and then do something with it!  Because you love it, you will stay engaged and you will accomplish so much more than those who believe that work is supposed to be a chore.  You gotta love what you do and the rest will follow!
